The Summit 18 Corridor Study includes the planning level activities, associated with Steps 1 through 4 of Ohio Department of Transportation's (ODOT) Project Development Process (PDP) for Major Projects. The study area closely follows the SR 18 Corridor, from Medina Line Road east to the IR 77 Interchange, including the interchange and then continues south along IR 77 to and including the SR 21 Interchange. Safety and congestion have long been points of concern within the study area and the Akron Metropolitan Area Transportation Study (AMATS) has co-sponsored this study in conjunction with ODOT and with oversight by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
The Study will consider Reducing Congestion, Improving Safety, Improving Drainage and Addressing Access Concerns in the study area. Background information including crash data, congestion, geometrics and environmental red flags has been gathered by the Study Team. All this data will be analyzed and results of these studies will be used to develop a strategic plan for the Study Area.
